Dr. Justin Blows has assisted clients identify and secure their competitive advantage for two decades.
As a patent attorney, Justin has obtained hundreds of patents and trade mark registrations for his clients. While doing this work, Justin realised that many clients had difficulty identifying their sources of competitive advantage and consequently underperformed.
Justin works with clients to find their sources of competitive advantage and the best path for leveraging them. This results in high value, high margin mid-sized technology companies.
Justin is adept at working with clients in communication (ICT), electrical, mechanical and physical technology industries. Examples of which include, software and hardware for packet based networks, locks and hinges, optoelectronic, photonic, mining, hard material, RFID, and water treatment technologies.
Justin has addressed forums such as the Law Society, Australian Solar Energy Society annual conference, and the Australian Institute of Energy, on intellectual property, has been quoted by many news outlets including the Wall Street Journal and COSMOS magazine and has been interviewed many times on ABC radio regarding intellectual property issues. He has also presented seminars and lectures on intellectual property at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University.
Prior to his present career, Justin co-founded and was a chief investigator of The Centre of Excellence for Ultrahigh Bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems at The University of Sydney, a highly prestigious and world leading research centre. Prior to this Justin was a project leader at The Optical Fibre Technology Centre, The University of Sydney.
Qualifications
Justin has a Bachelor of Science degree with first class honours in Physics from The University of Sydney, a PhD in applied physics (lasers) from Macquarie University, and a Masters of Industrial (Intellectual) Property from The University of Technology Sydney. He is certified by the World Intellectual Property Organisation for both intellectual property management and patent searching. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia.
